๐Ÿงญ A Beginner’s Guide to Islamic Numerology

Discovering the Spiritual Code through the Abjad System and the Names of Allah

๐ŸŒฟ 1. Introduction: Why Numbers Matter in Islam

Islam is a faith of meaning, patterns, and reflection. The Qur’an is more than recitation; it is a divine structure that balances words, sounds, and numeric harmony. In Islamic numerology, we explore the Abjad system, where Arabic letters hold numerical values — an ancient tradition once used by scholars and Sufis alike.

These numbers aren’t for prediction — they’re for reflection. The numbers help you connect your story with Divine Names, gaining insights about your spiritual path.

๐Ÿ”ข 2. The Abjad System: Sacred Numbers in the Arabic Alphabet

The Abjad system is a numeric coding of Arabic letters. Each letter has a specific value, and these values can be added up to represent words, names, and phrases.

๐Ÿ”  Sample of Abjad Table:

LetterValueLetterValue
ุง (Alif)1ุณ (Seen)60
ุจ (Ba)2ุน (‘Ayn)70
ุฌ (Jeem)3ู (Fa)80
ุฏ (Dal)4ุต (Sad)90
ู‚ (Qaf)100
There are 28 letters, with values ranging from 1 to 1000.

You’ll receive the full table in the downloadable worksheet.

๐Ÿงฎ 3. Simple Calculation: How to Derive a Number from a Name or Phrase

Let’s calculate the value of the name “Ahmad” (ุฃุญู…ุฏ).

Break the name into letters:

  • ุง = 1

  • ุญ = 8

  • ู… = 40

  • ุฏ = 4

Total: 1 + 8 + 40 + 4 = 53

This number, 53, can be compared to Asma’ul Husna (Names of Allah) or spiritually significant concepts with that number.

๐Ÿ“ Try this with your:

  • First name

  • Full name

  • Mother's name

  • A meaningful word (like “Rahma” or “Sabr”)

๐ŸŒŒ 4. Interpreting the Numbers: Finding Meaning in the Divine Names

Each of Allah’s 99 Names carries a numerical value and a spiritual frequency. When your name or word resonates with a Name of Allah:

  • It may symbolize qualities you embody

  • Or point to traits you're meant to develop

Examples:

NumberName of AllahMeaning
53Al-HalimThe Most Forbearing
66Allah (ุงุณู… ุงู„ุฌู„ุงู„ุฉ)The Divine Name Itself
137Al-RahmanThe Most Merciful
129Al-LatifThe Subtle, Gentle

This becomes a mirror — not a prediction — showing where Divine mercy, strength, or guidance is flowing in your life.

๐Ÿชž 5. Personal Reflection: What Does This Teach Me?

Now ask:

  • Is this Name a strength or a lesson for me?

  • How have I seen this attribute of Allah in my life?

  • Can I embody this Name more consciously?

๐ŸŒธ Example: If your name number aligns with Al-Latif (The Subtle One) — maybe your life calls for more gentleness, subtlety, or deep inner awareness.

Keep a journal to track your insights and experiences.

⚠️ 6. Spiritual Caution: This is Not Fortune-Telling

Islamic numerology is not about control — it’s about humility. This is not astrology, not magic, and not a system of fate.

  • Do not use it to predict future events

  • Do not judge others with their numbers

  • Do not make claims about destiny

“Indeed, knowledge is with Allah.” — Qur’an 31:34

Instead, use it as a tool for reflection, du'a, and inner work.
